She changed our lives... and changed the lives of women,
who have no idea who she is, all over the United States. Every time
a battered woman in California goes into a courthouse and does not face
endless obstacles to the preparation and filing of a domestic violence
restraining order, Norma is there. She is there when, on hundreds of
occasions every single day all over this country, women, rich and poor,
lawyers and ordinary people, face the judicial system in big and small
events, and it is better for all these women than what their sisters
had to endure just a dozen years ago. The work is not done, but she
left every one of us and this flawed system better off. We remember
her. And I sure wish she had stayed with us a little longer.
